Geraldine, our dental vet, has been further up-skilling in The States
Geraldine has just had the opportunity to spend 3 weeks attending Arizona Veterinary Dentistry Specialists in Phoenix, Arizona. This 6 veterinarian practice provides general and specialised dental care and oral surgery for dogs and cats and even some exotic animals.
They do root canals and crown restorations on a daily basis, oral tumour surgery, extractions, orthodontics and all routine prophylactic procedures. Geraldine was able to learn new techniques from world leaders in the field of veterinary dentistry. Now she is back and enjoying applying her knowledge to her dental patients at Mill Road Vets.
Root canals are an excellent alternative to extracting important teeth in dogs and cats. Below is an example of a finished root canal recently performed by Geraldine on a 6 year old dog. This allows the fractured dead tooth to be retained rather than extracted.
