Elaine McIlhinney, BVSc

Elaine is from Scotland and gained her Veterinary degree at the University of Glasgow in 1999. She worked as a small animal vet in Glasgow for 8 years, in several different practices, including a state of the art Accident and Emergency practice.

In 2007 she immigrated to New Zealand; what was meant to be a two year stay ended up becoming permanent when her whole family fell in love with our beautiful country! She and her husband have settled in Maunu with their 3 lovely girls and a growing menagerie including chickens, pet sheep, guinea pigs, ponies, cats Dave and Lily & dogs Sanchez and Tammy.

Elaine has a special interest in eyes and has recently expanded her clinical skills in this area, successfully completing a postgraduate certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology from Massey University.

She works Mondays and Fridays at Mill Road and our Maunu clinic, as well as filling in for holidays. Tiny in stature, but with a lovely big Scottish accent, she is a pleasure to have about at the clinic!
